Keep reading to see a few of the questions you should be asking yourself first.
What tasks or areas of your business will your assistant be supporting with?
Write out everything that you currently don’t have time for, or would like your assistant to support with. This can also be future projects that have been on the back burner! It is very important to have an understanding of these tasks before hiring your assistant.
Do you have Standard Operating Procedures in Place?
Trust me, these will make your life a whole lot easier! Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs are procedures specific to your business that describe the activities necessary to complete tasks per your standards. This can even be a simple Google Doc and Loom tutorials. Your assistant will seriously thank you for having these in place!
Do you have time to on-board your assistant & assign tasks?
In the first month, understand that you will need to dedicate time to ensure your assistant is properly onboarded. This means creating onboarding documents, Loom training tutorials, doing live training, etc. If the onboarding process is done well, and you have a good assistant, you will find that you will rarely have to manage them going forward.
Virtual assistants are typically task-based, so you will have to spend time delegating tasks to ensure all your hours for the month are used up. Alternatively, you can have your assistant oversee certain parts of your business in which case you will find that you will only have to assign extra tasks as needed and they will just know what their daily responsibilities are.
