Finding the Right Virtual Assistant for your Business
Adding an assistant to your team is a big step- so it’s important to know a few things before going into it! Here’s five tips for you that you should think about before hiring a Virtual Assistant.
What areas are you outsourcing?
Having an idea of what your assistant will support you on with BEFORE you hire them is key. Knowing these areas will help you attract the right kind of VA as there are many different types that offer a range of services.
Do you share similar values?
Working with someone who shares similar values as you and your business will create a solid relationship from the start! Look for someone who has open communication, is honest, dedicated, open to learning, and is not afraid to own up to a mistake or take initiative.
Do you like them as a person?
Take advantage of the initial discovery call that a VA typically offers as part of the onboarding process. Hopefully, this is a video call or even an in person meet up if they are local. It is important to make that connection to see if you can picture yourself working with this person and to trust them with your business. This person will be part of your team- so it’s imperative that you like and get along with them too!
Is the onboarding process simple?
When first connecting with a VA, the process from start to finish should be seamless and organized. From the initial inquiry response, signing the contract, to receiving your welcome package- all steps should be easy for you. I think this part is the most important, as it will ensure a smooth transition as you begin your work together.
Check out their website and social media.
Do some sleuthing! Research your potential VA by viewing their website and social media. You will likely find a list of their service offerings, testimonials from clients, price points, details about them and their experience! This is good way to see if what you’re looking for is aligned with the assistants’ offerings. I personally get a lot of inquiries from business owners who have not read my website and we are not a good fit.
So, when the time comes that you’re feeling overwhelmed and the need to outsource some of your admin work, remember these steps to ensure you find yourself a reliable VA.
